Out With The Old, In With The New

I heard somewhere that it takes 14 days to create a new habit. I think that's crap. I think it takes a lot longer than that. Not only are you having to make the new habit a reality, but you have to mourn the old habit, honour that old habit. Those lovely old habits helped you hobble through some tough times. They're like the favourite mixing bowl that finally broke after 20 years. You know it can be replaced, but there's still sentimentality attached to it. And this new upstart wants to replace it?! My new habits can sometimes take months and months to stick. And that's o.k. because I want to usher the old ones out in a way that is grateful... no matter how odd or unhealthy that old habit may be.

Note: Capitalized recipes are my own.

Day 96

  • glass of water
  • cup of hot jasmine green tea with honey
  • 3 slices of Carrot Raisin Manna Bread with coconut oil
  • 20 chlorella nuts
  • big bowl of bok choy salad (bok choy, portabello mushrooms, Spiced Seeds, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, sea salt); Apple Pie a la Mode (serving of yesterday's Flat-Bottom Apple Pie topped with Banana-Peach Ice Cream made from frozen bananas, frozen peaches, cashew butter, water)
  • dinner at a party: carrots and celery with my Walnut Pate (walnuts, onions, scallions, carrots, celery, dried cranberries, garlic, balsamic vinegar, sea salt); green salad (romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, bell peppers, Spiced Seeds, balsamic vinaigrette); 2 cups of hot herbal tea with honey
  • some leftover veggie fried rice

Today's Observations
I am just ROCKIN' this party scene! OK, admittedly, today I had some help. The big family gathering today did have the usual fare of cheese-ridden appetizers (there was actually some kind of cheese dip there that was neon orange! yeesh! LOL!), but the cool thing was that the dinner was a salad bar! I was in heaven! Also, I must say that I've been SOOOO missing my homemade chocolates! They don't carry cacao powder and/or cacao butter in my favourite store here, so Mo and I are going to try to find some at Whole Foods tomorrow.
